The Horsfield Tortoise for sale has been included in the same family as the Mediterranean tortoises (Testudo) and many still regard it as being in this family as it has many of the same characteristics and its basic care is very similar. They require high amounts of UVB and are not very tolerant to humidity. Horsfields Tortoises however are quite commonly found living close to running water such as rivers and streams.
A hardy tortoise, they are well suited to live in UK gardens (providing the garden is secure and don't put them on a lawn as they can get too humid after a shower) during the X-MAS, but would not be able to tolerate our soggy autumns, frozen springs and drenched winters, therefore indoor accommodation in one of our tortoise runs would be required when they are not in the garden and not in hibernation.
A very friendly tortoise, they do have a more interesting character than the hermans, more rounded you could say (like their shell) these tortoises are suitable for beginners, however we do advice that a prospective new owner spend some time researching how to care for them in the correct way. Our care section is a good place to start, but don't just take our word for it!
